{"id":1790,"date":"2019-01-26T17:04:13","date_gmt":"2019-01-26T17:04:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/franksanna.com\/?p=1790"},"modified":"2019-01-30T18:15:02","modified_gmt":"2019-01-30T18:15:02","slug":"place-is-time-remembered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/franksanna.com\/?p=1790","title":{"rendered":"Place is time, remembered."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thinking about &#8220;place&#8221; this morning, how it is something more than a strictly physical location, I was inspired by this Emergence Magazine article &#8220;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/emergencemagazine.org\/story\/counter-mapping\/?fbclid=IwAR1mxWNPmDoROTT-aHwf1mf0uxvhLHz0leuAx_TOwaRZHAwzUIaciHvm3kM\"><strong>Counter Mapping<\/strong><\/a><\/span>&#8221; which talks about indigenous Zuni or A:shiwi ways of relating to environment, to land, and place. It also features some beautiful art (two examples shown here) and videos.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 2710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ashiwi-museum.org\/collaborations\/ashiwi-map-art\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/emergencemagazine.org\/app\/uploads\/2018\/02\/springs-at-kyaa.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2700\" height=\"3600\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Geddy Epaloose, K\u2019ya\u2019na: K\u2019yawakwayina A:dehya (Ojo Caliente), 2009<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;For thousands of years, the names of places were interwoven with experiences and stories of the landscape.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It is hard to imagine how we used to think about our connection to life before we somehow got lost or split up; to imagine that time when time, place, the &#8216;external&#8217; world, along with our &#8216;interior&#8217; self, were naturally considered to be one thing &#8211; or at least, familiar or well versed in each other. Not like today, with a me <em>in here<\/em> and a nature <em>out there<\/em>.
